Quilting Challenge Completed

quilting-march

As part of the Gude Cause celebrations, we launched a ‘Quilting Challenge’ and asked people to send patchwork quilt blocks, using purple, green and white.

We were absolutely thrilled to receive 157 squares from all around the world!

These will now be made into a large quilt, to be used in the Gude Cause celebration, and publicly exhibited.

Below is just a small sample of those received:

Launch of Our Quilting Challenge

To celebrate this centenary, Gude Causewould like to invite quilters (of all abilities!) to submit quilting squares to be made into a commemorative quilt.

Our Theme is: UNITY.
You may interpret the theme however you like, but we ask that each quilt square incorporates only these three colours:

GREEN ~ WHITE ~  VIOLET

Finished squares should be 9 ½” square (including ¼” seam allowance).  Squares should be un-quilted (but pressed) and with no adornments.Basic instructions for beginners can be found below.

One of our recent squares

We recently received this fantastic square from Jane Thomson of Crail, Fife.

Jane said “I enjoyed designing and sewing this square.  It is based on a Celtic theme.  The centre chain links representing the actions of the suffragettes and the outer lines their unity.”
